A medical transcription professional has many opportunities for a job as a work at home professional. The nature of the position allows it to be done outside the auspices of an office it allows for much more freedom than other positions, especially in the medical industry.

At home transcriptionist

Most at home transcription positions will require between 3 to 5 years of medical transcription experience. Jobs like this will also require that a medical transcriptionist have his or her own software to perform the duties of the job, such as Docshuttle or Wavplayer. ESL experience is also good. The job will also require extensive editing and spellchecking duties.

Most positions will be for a particular clinic, which specializes, in certain medical disciplines. It is good if you can also show experience in the discipline of the employing doctor or clinic.

Medical language specialists

The medical language specialist will definitely need ESL physician dictation experience with at least 2 years of experience in the industry. The number of dictators that are on each account is also important, as the more dictators on a particular account, the larger the account is. Many jobs will only accept resumes from people who have worked on accounts that have above a certain number of dictators.

Data migrating technicians

Data migrating technicians work in moving the data of a medical clinic or medical office from one medium to another. Today it is usually from a paper data program into an electronic medical records platform, as many doctors and clinics are shifting to a paperless office. Skills needed are an experience with medical terminology and working within an electronic medical records platform. Many times a job like this will be an independent contractor position with the ability to work from home. There are quotas that must be met, and a final deadline, but the day to day workload is left up to the independent contractors themselves.

QA editor

Quality assurance is a key position in medical transcription, but especially in migration projects and during tax periods or in an audit. People who take on a QA editor job will most likely have to have experience not only in medical transcription, but also in quality control or corporate processing. As such, the experience will most likely be between 5 to 7 years for this job.
